Inclusion

Southfield Park Primary School is an inclusive school, which embraces the uniqueness of each child and values the contribution of all members of our school community. We are committed to meeting the special educational needs of all pupils, ensuring that they make good progress and our school Special Needs policy and provision supports the vision of the school:

We want the best for you and from you so that you can SHINE.

We hope that the following information will provide you with an outline of the additional support available at Southfield Park but if you would like further information or have any questions with regards to SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) provision please contact Mrs Vicky Walker (SENCo).

What are special educational needs?

High quality teaching that is differentiated and personalised will meet the individual needs of the majority of children However, some children have different needs and require educational provision that is additional to or different from this. These needs can be learning, communication, physical or emotional, all which can create barriers to children’s learning and progress, and our SEND policy sets out how we will do this.

At Southfield Park, we recognise our responsibilities, as stated in the Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice. The Code of Practice provides statutory guidance on duties, policies and procedures relating to Part 3 of the Children and Families Act 2014 and associated regulations. It relates to children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and disabled children and young people.

Aims:

  • We will ensure that all pupils with special educational needs have full and equal access to the curriculum and all aspects of school life
  • We will endeavour, through appropriate use of funding, staffing and professional expertise, to meet the needs of all our children
  • We will provide a curriculum which is appropriate and matched to individual needs and learning styles

Our Provision

Local authorities are required to publish a ‘Local Offer’ which is intended to provide information about provision available to children with special educational needs in the local area.  At Southfield Park Primary School, we are proud of our inclusive practice and what we can offer (Our School Offer) to all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
