Welcome back to the Summer Term! Half Term break is Monday 30th May - Friday 3rd June

As soon as your child starts their school life at Southfield Park Primary School, all parents and carers become members of 'The Friends of Southfield Park'.  This is the “PTA” for the school and is run by a small committee who meet regularly to plan events and raise funds.  We hold regular meetings, some formal (because we have to!), but mainly very informal, to discuss upcoming events, fund raising ideas, etc., so please come along.

Over the years the funds we have raised have supplied lots of things for our school, such as stage lights and a sound system for the hall, sound equipment for the drama studio, scooter racks, laptops and iPads, books for the library, drums and more. Our greatest project to date is to revamp the school library.

We also provide regular funding for coaches for residential trips, equipment for the Gardening Club, Christmas Crackers for the children's Christmas Party and individual class donations which allow the teachers to purchase whatever they think their class need, like a new rug for their reading area or astroturf for the reception playground.

Fundraising is now more important than ever before, as school budgets are stretched.  As your child/children go through the school, you can see that they will benefit in many different ways from the money we raise.

Our main annual fundraising events include:

  • Summer Fair · Christmas Fair · Halloween Disco · Quiz Night

Tickets to our events can now be purchased through our ticket portal at: https://www.pta-events.co.uk/friendsofsouthfieldpark/

We have recently launched a School Lottery, which guarantees a weekly prize for one of our supporters (currently around £20) plus a chance of winning the national weekly prize of £25,000.  It’s just £1 a week and you can either buy individual tickets or setup a direct debit.  Anyone can sign up, so feel free to invite family and friends to buy a ticket.

To join, go to https://www.yourschoollottery.co.uk/play and search for Southfield Park.  The more tickets we sell, the bigger the local prize!

There are also a couple of ways that you can help raise funds for the school when doing online shopping:

The Giving Machine is a charity cash back site giving a small percentage of your online spending with many of the most popular online retailers back to the Friends. This is all at no cost to you and to date we have around 50 people signed up and have raised over £850!  Just go to http://www.thegivingmachine.co.uk/ and sign up, remembering to select “Southfield Park Primary School” as your cause (otherwise the cause of the week will get your cashback)!

We are also setup on “Stamptastic”, a site for ordering name labels, stationery and now many other art and craft things.  Anything you buy from the site earn commission for the Friends.  Simply go to https://bit.ly/SPStamp and your purchase will be tracked against our account.

We are always looking for new members or helpers. Don’t worry if you can’t make it along to regular meetings or prefer not to be formally voted in; there are many events that we always need helpers with.  If you would rather not get involved at all that’s fine too but you’ll still be able to support the fundraising events, such as coming along to the Christmas and Summer fairs or supporting our Mufti days or donating Jolly Jars.

We also get the children to design their own Christmas cards at Christmas along with other little gifts.  We also have T-shirts for the house colours for Sports day and other House events.  There really are lots of ways to get involved and lots of great things going on.

For details about our upcoming events, please look out for information in the school weekly newsletter.  We also regularly update our Facebook page Friends of Southfield Park Primary, so “Like” us to get the latest news, or follow us on Twitter @FoSPPEpsom.

If you fancy getting more involved, please get in touch.  Contact details are in the header above, or you can speak to one of the committee members if you see them around school.
